For some people a year has passed since you left. For others you never left, because you still live with them and in their hearts. To the gardens of paradise, father of us all.
The second anniversary of your departure from our world. Always present among us even though you are in another world. How could we not miss you, when you were the balm on every wound? We missed your presence among us all the more when your beloved Iman followed you to your world. Iman, who loved you in our world and went to you in yours. How great you were in your simplicity and your unforced tenderness, to leave such a mark even on our children. Did you know that my daughter Joud and my children still miss you? Only yesterday Joud said to me, “Baba, it is nearly a year since uncle Ibrahim died.” We read the Fatiha for your great soul. God is our sufficiency and the best of guardians. To the gardens of paradise, great man. To God we belong and to Him we return.
